My short story, ‘The Oba’s Head’, is published in a crime fiction anthology by Honno, the longest-standing independent women’s press in the UK. ‘Cast a Long Shadow’ was published in April 2022 and is available here.
‘The Oba’s Head’ is inspired by the true story of the Benin Bronzes, looted by British soldiers in 1897 from Benin City in present-day Nigeria. The concept for a novel-length version of the story was longlisted in the Adventures in Fiction New Voices Competition.
In June 2022, I joined musician Blank Face for a reading from ‘The Oba’s Head’ and a discussion at The Talking Shop in Cardiff.
I also participated in a reading and Q&A to celebrate the launch of ‘Cast a Long Shadow’ at Cardiff Central Library, with co-editor Katherine Stansfield and fellow contributors Tracey Rhys, Ellen Davies and E.E. Rhodes.
